Date Check app eases the minds of young romantics
Finding love should be an exciting adventure. With the Date Check application developed by Intelius, young romantics can allow themselves to be swept off their feet without putting themselves in danger.
Released last fall for several mobile platforms, including the iPhone and Android, Date Check allows users to research the people they are dating and determine whether or not the relationship is safe to pursue. When daters enter their suitor’s name or phone number, Date Check can scan a robust list of databases for any criminal records or financial red flags.
The application can be downloaded for free from the iPhone Store or Android Market. Intelius also plans to make the software available for Research in Motion devices soon.
At DEMO 2009, a mobile application development trade show, executive producer of the event Chris Shipley recognized Date Check as a first-of-its-kind program. “Every year we look for game-changing companies like Intelius to launch their products at DEMO, and this year Date Check represents a revolution in the way people navigate the dating scene,” he said at the conference.
Date Check is an extension of the other identification services offered by Intelius, which strives to deliver the most accurate and valuable background checks.
The World of Naveen Jain
Hey there, Naveen Jain here. If you have been keeping track of my namespace, you may have noticed some new Naveen Jain websites. I’d like to go ahead and introduce the Naveen Jain family of websites, which cover topics of special interest to me. These sites will be regularly updated with posts, so definitely subscribe and stay tuned.
1. Naveen Jain NonProfit News: This site focuses on the charities and other nonprofits that Intelius supports. My wife Anu and I are proud to promote these worthy organizations that are working hard to make metro Seattle and the world at large a better place. (While I’m at it, allow me to plug my son Ankur’s nonprofit, The Karios Society).
2. Naveen Jain Space Explorers: You probably know by now I love space exploration, and I’m a big proponent of space commercialization. Come explore the stars with me on Naveen Jain Space Explorers for my views of NASA, cosmic discoveries, and how to make money from outer space ventures.
3. Naveen Jain Internet Security: The Internet is still a fairly young technology, so comparisons to the “Wild West” are pretty apt. There are viruses, phishing scams, malicious spyware, and other hazards out there. Get cyber street smart and avoid Internet pitfalls with a little advice from Naveen Jain Internet Security, featuring our star security consultant, Robert Siciliano.
4. Intelius is still going strong with its technology-based blog at Blog.Intelius.com. Keep up with the latest Intelius news, technology trends, and other computer-related issues.
Thanks for tuning in!
Naveen Jain on progress and innovation
I believe that many of the world’s greatest challenges can only be solved through innovation and entrepreneurship rather than activism. We also need to think about the world slightly differently “not what it is” but “what it’s going to be” through the natural exponential evolution of technology.
It’s very likely that in the next decade, we will have abundance of food rather than shortage of food. One day, factories will produce whatever meat we humans want to eat, only growing the parts of the animals that we need (such as muscle tissues or skin tissues). We will no longer have to raise cattle, which is one of the largest producer of methane (causing climate change). This will also free up the land to produce food for humans rather than cattle. In addition, there will be no suffering for animals; we will be to create massive amount of meat in the factories using stem cells from biological cattle.
Similarly, technology advances in nanotechnology and genetics will allow us to remove cancerous and other malformed cells, and introduce young new cells with brand new telomeres so every organ in your body can be refreshed every so often to keep you young and ageless. Exponential innovation in Artificial Intelligence will allow us to build software that will provide access to healthcare through voice recognition and cell phones to most people around the world, including rural areas. This AI will be even better than a board certified physician. Current statistics show that more than 25% of the time, physicians misdiagnose illnesses due to personal bias. The AI software will have no such bias, and will always be updated with the latest advances in our understanding of diseases.
I think that only sustainable way to solve world’s greatest challenges is to engage young entrepreneurs who want to make a difference, but are true entrepreneurs…and not just activists.
Intelius Security Expert Roberto Siciliano interviewed on BlogTalkRadio
Intelius Security Consultant Robert Siciliano was recently interviewed on BlogTalkRadio program CyberHood Watch. Dave & Bill, the hosts of CyberHood Watch, discuss the Internet security issues of the day relating to your children, families, homes, PC’s and mobile communication devices.
Robert Siciliano, the net’s premier security expert, probably needs no introduction, but Naveen Jain will introduce him anyway! Robert has recently partnered with Intelius to help spread his knowledge about identity theft and internet security. He will be a featured guest star in my upcoming new site, Naveen Jain’s Internet Security (coming soon!)

GoodCrush combines young love with good business
Finding a love connection can be as tricky as launching a successful company. But young entrepreneur Josh Weinstein’s promising new business may also hold the promise of helping young lovers find each other.
GoodCrush is an on-campus dating site that offers a variety of features. Perhaps the most popular is the “CrushFinder.” Through this service, campus students can undergo an anonymous matching process or post missed connections through double-blind messaging to find people they’ve developed feelings for from afar.
One of the benefits of this service is that it eliminates the potential awkwardness of asking someone on a first date by providing an exciting, flattering alternative. Young admirers can say what they feel, and if they’re rejected – well, no one knows it’s them.
Another benefit is that the college campus component of GoodCrush helps build a site where young people can connect through a relatively secure medium. As anyone who knows Naveen Jain and Intelius can tell you, internet security is my specialty.
Weinstein will be honored for his clever business venture at the upcoming Intelius Entrepreneurship Award event – Leaders of Tomorrow: Student Entrepreneurship. He’ll have the chance to describe the business model behind his on-campus dating site, and maybe he’ll even give a little love advice.
Leonar3Do makes 3D technology accessible to everyone
As anyone who knows Naveen Jain knows, I am committed to fostering the creative brainpower of tomorrow’s entrepreneurs. The student entrepreneurs who will be honored at the May 24th Leaders of Tomorrow: Student Entrepreneurship panel at the Microsoft Silicon Valley Campus are not only promising leaders of tomorrow, they are making a difference today.
One of the five exceptional student entrepreneurs, Hungarian Daniel Ratai, is making strides in the technology business sector, and his company could also play a role in shaping a number of other markets. Leonar3Do is a product that can turn any PC into a 3D reality system. Anyone can use the tool to create a virtual world before his or her eyes – from adults with an interest in creating art to 12-year-olds who want to immerse themselves in ancient Greece before a history test.
The patented three-dimensional software comes with sensors to mount on monitors, 3D glasses, a marker and a controller. Users can create and interact with self-designed virtual realities.
Ratai envisions this technology being useful to people across a number of industries. It may be useful in training professionals in the realms of medicine, archaeology and interior design. He also foresees it as a tool to bring out the cultural curiosities of young students in 21st century classrooms.
I am eager to meet Ratai in the coming weeks and applaud him for this innovative tool that makes 3D easily accessible. I believe it could be important in reforming the nation’s current education crisis – a gift from one student to others.
